Isolation

I made a broken door in the scale of the security door of my Chicago apartment, and on its surface I dripped wax to create a spike-like structure.

This work shows my state of mind after arriving in Chicago as an international student. This state of mind is a contradiction of danger and vulnerability. The door is a border between me and the outside world. The spikes look aggressive and are the means by which I choose to disguise/protect myself. But the material of wax is actually very fragile (afraid of burning and knocking), representing that my inner self is actually vulnerable.
